Named after Theodore de Bry , who was a spanish-born engraver, gold-smith, editor and publisher, notoriously active during the 16th Century. When he moved to England, he created a series of engravings from The Picts, who were a civilisation that lived in what is now Scotland north of the Firth of Forth, in the Early Middle Ages. Lost in time, little is known about this people but they were surely ahead of time in many senses. The brand is born as a homage to the Picts and the undeniable value of their culture. The origins of the Picts are shrouded in the mists of time. Through the years the Picts history became an enigma cloaked in poetic renditions and modifications. Until this day they remain one of the most fascinating and intriguing cultures.
Theodore Gin unites the mysteries of the picts with the spirit of a botanical gin following the steps of tradition & expertise. The gin is named after Theodore de Bry, a 16th century engraver who was the first to bring the Picts to life visually.
We designed the identity of this high quality botanical gin as well as the bottle design, label and packaging.
